OnePlus Ace Racing Edition passes by Geekbench

OnePlus released the OnePlus Ace back in the last month. The device arrived as a rebranded Realme GT Neo 3 featuring the exact same specifications, but with a few tweaks. The device had a new Dimensity 8100-MAX branch with slight tweaks for performance and an entirely new design. This handset was also launched in India as the OnePlus 10R. Now, that a few weeks have passed since the launch, OnePlus is preparing the terrain for a new variant dubbed OnePlus Ace Racing Edition. As per some reports, this will be a more affordable variant, despite the name suggesting something faster. It will still be faster than the big majority of mid-range devices in the market with the Dimensity 8100.

OnePlus Ace Racing Edition – A cost-effective flagship

The OnePlus Ace Raging Edition will launch on May 17. Ahead of its release, the device has just passed through the Geekbench benchmark database. The listing confirms the device will pack the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. Note that this is the vanilla variant, however, right now there is no way to affirm this. The chipset boasts a 5 nm architecture with four ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz plus six ARM Cortex-A55 cores. There is a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU taking care of the gaming and graphical tasks. On Geekbench 5, the device appeared with model number PGZ110. It achieves 868 points in the Single-Core department and 3,505 points in the multi-core tasks. This may not be a big surprise, but the device runs Android 12, which means OxygenOS 12 on the top.

OnePlus has also disclosed some renders confirming the phone’s device. The official listing on the OnePlus China website confirms the upcoming Ace smartphone will pack a Blue and Grey colorway. It will also bring the usual triple-camera setup. There will be a 64 MP main camera shooter leading the way. We expect the other sensors to be an 8 MP ultrawide snapper and a 2 MP shooter for macro or depth sensing.

If the performance is flagship-level with the Dimensity 8100, how could OnePlus make this device cheaper? The answer is in the details. Apparently, the phone will ship with an LCD screen, unlike its OLED-packed sibling. Anyway, this screen will still come with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone will also come with a battery of at least 4,500 mAh. Fast-charging will likely be between 65W and 80W. We expect more details to emerge in the coming days as the launch is drawing near.

The device could either be a huge success or a pointless failure. It all depends on the pricing. Worth noting, that the phone is coming with a textured gray variant that quite resembles old OnePlus phones with a Sandstone finish.
