Why Itumeleng Khune was dropped

There is no other way to look at it. Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has been made to offer the reasons for not selecting Itumeleng Khune against TS Galaxy.
STUART BAXTER EXPLAINS WHY KHUNE WAS NOT PICKED LAST WEEKEND
Following Khune’s impressive exploits in the DStv Compact Cup several weeks ago, the Amakhosi nation unsurprisingly expected the former Bafana Bafana number to take the gloves against TS Galaxy last weekend.
To the shock of many fans, last weekend’s team news did not include in both the line-up and the bench.
“You’re right Itu played in the Compact Cup and we were pleased to see him at his level,” Baxter said via iDiski Times.
“So it was going to be between the other three goalkeepers this evening. Brendon was outstanding in the camp in Cape Town. Reports from the staff there flagged up that he was really good.
“When I then watched the training and Bruce, Itu and Brendon, Brendon was performing very well. It was a close one, a close call for tonight.
“Brendon was the one we chose, his attributes suited this game quite well and I thought he had a good game, a very good game.”

BAXTER SENDS MESSAGE TO KAIZER CHIEFS FANS
Coaching is the loneliest job in the world when you have to face the media after getting outplayed by a lesser opponent.
It was therefore somewhat expected to hear Amakhosi’s Baxter struggling to make good sense of Saturday night’s result.
“To get knocked out of the cup, I am not very happy, to be honest,” the former Bafana Bafana coach said via SuperSport.
“As poorly as I thought we played, I thought we lacked quality, all the way through the game. The pass was not accurate, the run was poorly timed, the tackle was a little bit early or late.
“So we were off the pace the whole game, and when we did produce some moments of quality, I think the players know they have, we looked ok but to gain moment and to gain some sort of energy and power in a cup game, you need to sustain that
“We didn’t sustain it,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys are now hours aways from facing Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership.
