Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans must have a different view but Neil Tovey is confident that the 2021/22 title is long gone.

The 2016 CAF Champions League holders are 17 points ahead at the top of the division, Pirates in second place could still earn 33 while the third-placed Kaizer Chiefs have 36 points to play for, yet Tovey is confident it is all over for the Soweto giants.

“Another three points tonight [Monday against Chippa United], will practically mean they’ve won the league,” Tovey said as quoted by KickOff.

“Actually they’ve already clinched the league title a long time ago. It doesn’t matter tonight whether they win or lose, they will still win the title.

“They should start concentrating on the Champions League now,” concluded the former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana skipper who won the league as a co-coach with Sundowns in 2005/6.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TO WELCOME ERWIN SAAVEDRA

Mamelodi Sundowns are bringing a Bolivian in town. As The South African previously reported, the DStv Premiership champions have signed Erwin Saavedra.

“Saavedra we’ve signed, we have registered him for CAF as well, so we have seen Erwin, he is a very good player by the way,” Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi told the media last week.

While the deal to sign Saavedra was signed over a week ago, the Bolivian was on international duty as his national side took on the mighty Chile last week. Read the full story here.
