Stuart Baxter on where it went wrong for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter says a “lack of quality from both sides” saw his team come away from their DStv Premiership clash against Cape Town City FC on Tuesday with a 0-0 draw.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock at the Cape Town Stadium, with Amakhosi seemingly still suffering from their 1-0 Nedbank Cup Round of 32 defeat to TS Galaxy last weekend.
The stalemate saw Kaizer Chiefs move to third place on the DStv Premiership log with 29 points from 17 games; a point behind second-placed Orlando Pirates and 19 behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Citizens, meanwhile, ended the evening in ninth place with 23 points.
After the encounter, Baxter told SuperSport that there was at least some improvement from last time out.
He said: “I thought it was an interesting game of football. Both teams tactically were set up.
“Probably the lack of quality from both sides meant a draw was going to be the fair result. Because in the last third both teams threatened but didn’t have the composure in the final third.”
Baxter added: “I don’t know what Eric [Tinkler] was saying. But for us I thought we played through very very well. We played better than we did against TS Galaxy but we’re still lacking that cutting edge.
“But if I’m looking at anything tonight, I’m taking the positives from the attitude, the structure, the ability to play through then I’m hoping that our front players are going to be a little bit more composed so we can take a few of those good situations that we got.”
Kaizer Chiefs next face Baroka FC
Kaizer Chiefs will next be in action away to Baroka FC on Saturday, 26 February at 19:30.
