REVEALED: The Chelsea player Pitso Mosimane managed to get the jersey of, and who its for!

Pitso Mosimane enjoyed a successful period for Al Ahly in the FIFA Club World Cup last weekend.

Besides the festivities on the field, it was also a humbling experience for Mosimane who got to meet some global superstars after it was all said and done. 

Al Ahly earn gold

Mosimane’s Al Ahly clinched a bronze medal at the Club World Cup, after a resounding 4-0 drubbing of Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia. What made the victory even more impressive for Mosimane’s charges was the fact that, the Al Ahly side had to do with a whole host of senior player absentees. These absentees were due to both injuries/illness as well as Africa Cup of Nations involvements for some the players most prominent players.

A week before the tournament Mosimane lost compatriot, as well as off-season marquee signing Percy Tau to an injury, while the likes of Egyptian internationals Mohamed El-Shennawy and Akram Tawfik were also on international duty with the Pharos. That did not seem to deter Al Ahly and their quest to get to the podium at the showpiece event, however, as they soldiered on to win an impressive bronze medal on the last evening. 

History maker

That bronze medal was enough to plant Mosimane firmly into the history books, not once, but three times. After that feat, Mosimane became the first black coach to win back to back Club World Cup medals for Al Ahly, first African coach to win back to back bronze medals and the first coach in the world to win two bronze medals in a row at the global showpiece.

More than walking away with the bronze medal, Mosimane also revealed that he received the jersey of Chelsea player. He then also went on to confirm who he will give it to.

“Mason Mount’s jersey is not for me. It was for my daughter, who loves the game and always says ‘Mason Mount, Mason Mount’, so I spoke to him and he gave me the jersey, “Mason Mount’s jersey is not for me. Mosimane revealed on the Ultimate Sports Show.

Chelsea were the eventual winners of the Club World Cup, but Mosimane was certainly another big winner at the tournament.
