Mamelodi Sundowns won’t be dazzled by potential silverware

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa believes his team have the ability to win four trophies in a single campaign.

However, Lebusa said that they will only achieve the feat by taking things game by game.

After taking home the MTN 8 trophy earlier in the season, Sundowns remain in the hunt for the Nedbank Cup, the PSL and Champions League.

Mamelodi Sundowns aren’t getting carried away

No South African team has ever managed any form of quadruple, whether domestic or involving continental competitions.

Lebusa said that while winning trophies was their goal, Mamelodi Sundowns set out to give the best account of themselves every time they turn out.

“Everything is possible in football, but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. 

“We are focusing on every single game. 

“If we have a league game, we have to make sure we get the points to edge closer to win the winning the championship. 

“After that, it’s the Champions League, which is a different ball game. 

“There’s the Nedbank Cup, so there’s so many games that we have to focus on and we have to switch on and have different approaches. 

“If there is anyone who can do, chances are everyone would choose us to do it, but it won’t be easy. We have to stay hungry,” Lebusa told Soccer Laduma. 

“It would mean a lot for Sundowns. 

“For example, I want to experience the feeling of winning the Champions League. 

“I don’t know how it feels. 

“I have tasted the championship and all three times they felt different. 

“Each time it was like a new feeling and I want to keep on winning and experience that all the time.”

The Brazilians have a pair of huge Caf Champions League matches approaching.

Sundowns travel to Sudan to face Al Merrikh this weekend and will remain in North Africa for their crunch match against Al Ahly next Friday.
