Kaizer Chiefs central midfielder out for six weeks

Kaizer Chiefs don’t really have great quality numbers in central midfield, this will get worse as reports say Cole Alexander is out for six weeks.

According to the report, the 32-year-old from Mitchells Plain’s Lentegeur suffered a shoulder dislocation during a training session.

Soccer Laduma’s latest update says the former Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits star has had an assessment that confirmed the length of his injury.

“It was reported by the Siya crew last month that Cole Alexander was suspected to have dislocated his shoulder in training, but at the time he was still being assessed to see how long he could be sidelined for,” the outlet said.

“Now, it is believed the former Bidvest Wits man, who joined Amakhosi at the start of the season to reunite with Baxter having worked with him at Indian Premier League outfit Odisha FC, is expected to miss up to six weeks.”

In the meantime, the mighty Amakhosi will be stepping out into the field to play three matches within February’s 28 days.

Stuart Baxter’s side was just starting to fly before the disruption that was the Christmas break and AFCON 2021. The Glamour Boys had lost only one match from seven games, which included five wins. Unfortunately, Amakhosi have to start all over this month.

The action will begin with the Nedbank Cup last 32 round, before the main bread and butter of the DStv Premiership where the Glamour Boys are in fourth spot with 19 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns as well as four games in hand. Read the full story here.
