Cape Town City vs Kaizer Chiefs: Amakhosi up to third despite draw

Kaizer Chiefs‘ title ambitions suffered a knock as they could only afford to play to a 0-0 draw away to Cape Town City on Tuesday night.

Stuart Baxter and his team went into the encounter on the back of a 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup.

And they were looking to bounce back and redeem themselves after being pressured to perform by their fans.

However, it wasn’t to be as they fired blanks for the second game in a row, and the result has dented their chances of catching Mamelodi Sundowns.

Baxter again benched out-and-out striker Samir Nurkovic while Leonardo Castro was left out of the traveling squad to Cape Town City.

Bernard Parker, Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat led the Amakhosi attack while City had new signing Mogamat May upfront.
