Senator Buruji Kashamu, former lawmaker representing Ogun-East Senatorial District is dead.

The former senator has been on a life support machine for weeks at First Cardiology Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications.

Senator Kashamu has joined the growing list of high profile Nigerians, who died as a result of covid ’19 complications at First Cardiology Hospital.

The hospital has become first choice for wealthy Nigerians and politicians seeking cardiovascular treatment, next only to travelling abroad .It had handled a handful of Coronavirus patients among elites in recent times.

The late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, was treated for Coronavirus at the First Cardiologyhospital until he died in April.

Similarly, former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, and Senator Adebayo Osinowo, lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial district at the National Assembly, both died at the hospital in June.

Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator and a close ally of Buruji, posted on Twitter. 

“I have just lost my good friend of forever to ‪#COVID19. Until his death, Sen. Buruji Kashamu and I were inseparable. He died today at First Cardiology Consultants, in Lagos. May his gentle soul rest in peace. I pray his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this heavy loss,”
